We replaced our waterbed and David took one of the bladders and filled it with air. Here's Matthew and our neighbor Jonathan having fun:

I Miss My Mom . . .
It's a I miss my Mommy kind of day . . . I went shopping at some thrift stores today and ran across an interesting clock that I'm sure my Mom would have added to her collection. Did I tell you she had TONS of clocks? She didn't collect particular types, shapes or colors. If she found a clock at a flea market or garage sale . . . she would buy it. I thought she was going a little bonkers myself. I told her to at least buy ones that worked!
Here's a picture of a clock that we've had in the family for over 30 years! It's a fake telephone clock that she made me take home last July. I left it behind, but she hid it in the car before I left. I treasure it now.

10 Years At State Farm!

Congratulations to David Wheeler on his 10-year anniversary with State Farm. David began his career in the Seaboard Regional Office in Frederick, Maryland. He transferred to Corporate in 2000 and spent the next four years working in the NOS PA Unit. David then worked for two years as a technical coordinator primarily on Unix projects. In December 2006, he transferred to the implementation coordinator role and has handled roll outs of software to mainframes, Unix and windows servers, and software upgrade on workstations.
Now you know what brought us to the midwest! The details above are from an email his boss sent around. I hope you understand the technical jargon. I just tell everyone he works at Corporate South with computers . . . like the other 8,000+ people.
When I first saw "Corporate South", I thought it was a college campus. It is incredible. Sorry for the tiny picture, but that's all I could find.

Seussical The Musical
One of Matthew's buddies from Kindergarten, Gavin, invited him over to participate in a backyard presentation of "Seussical The Musical". They invited family over and afterwards we had pizza and cookies. Matthew played The Cat in the Hat. The kids were more hilarious behind the scenes trying to get their act together than on the stage.
Matthew now wants to put a performance on in our yard. It's a cross between Pokemon, Transformers, Sponge Bob and Spiderman. We'll let you know the results.

Grandma Honey & The Butterfly Garden
This morning, Matthew and I met his Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. K, at his school. We were planting two flowers in memory of Grandma Honey in the Butterfly Garden.
The first flower they planted was a "Honeycomb" (Yellow Butterfly Bush). Mrs. K thought the name was so appropriate since Grandma's name was Honey. She was telling Matthew that this plant would grow very tall (5 to 6 feet) and that it not only attracted butterflies, but also hummingbirds. Matthew and I both grinned ear to ear and told Mrs. K that Grandma Honey LOVED hummingbirds. The second flower (pinkish-red) is a "Red Riding Hood" (Tall Garden Phlox) because she knew Matthew loved to read.
They both had a great time doing it. We are going to buy a couple of heart stones and put next to the plants and have them engraved, "In Memory of Grandma Honey". We were so blessed with a wonderful teacher like Mrs. K. We were blessed even more by Grandma Honey.

Nesting

Nesting -- that's usually what a pregnant woman does before the baby comes. She tries to get EVERYTHING done.
First . . . I'm NOT pregnant.
But, I have been cleaning this house from top to bottom with a frenzy! I can see my smile in the toilet bowl it's so clean. Okay, maybe not the toilet bowl. I have cleaned out cabinets, closets, drawers. I've scrubbed and organized like crazy.
It doesn't feel like your typical Spring cleaning . . . this feels different . . . like right before we had Matthew.
So, I'm just going to assume that it is because we are going on vacation. Just like your Mom tells you to always wear clean underwear . . . in case you're in an accident. I'm cleaning the house so that if something bad happens to me . . . they can at least say: "Wow! She kept a clean house."
Is that pathetic or what?!! That's the only explanation I can come up with!
Confronting the Dark Lord

I found this article in Wondertime Magazine and thought of a couple of my friends who are CRAZY about Star Wars. I want mention names, but you all know who you are!
